Abdul Felicitates with Muslim Faithfuls

The Rector, Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin, Engr. Abdul Jimoh Muhammed has called on Nigerians to rise against all odds and strengthen the bonds of Unity and Friendship to keep the country together. Abdul made this call in his sallah message to the Polytechnic Muslim community as they join other Muslim faithfuls across the globe to celebrate this years eid-el-kabir festival. He urged all muslim faithfuls to re-enact the virtues exemplified by prophet Ibrahim through his sacrifice, patience, steadfastness, generosity and obedience to Allah for the country to move forward. Abdul also advised the Polytechnic community to use the occasion to pray for peace,  unity and progress of Kwara State and Nigeria at large as the country battles with the challenges of fuel subsidy removal. SPORTEx-Eaglets star sentenced to one-year jail term in Denmark for sexual assault

  Former Golden Eaglets forward, Akinkunmi Amoo has been sentenced to one-year in prison by a court in Denmark for sexual assault. Amoo will, however, appeal the court decision. According to Danish newspaper, Ekstra Bladet, Amoo was charged with rape, as well as attempted rape and violations of two more women. Danish authorities had first brought forward criminal charges against the player in April 2022, and then again in July and August 2022. The trial has been going on for most of June. The Nigerian was found guilty of all three charges in the Copenhagen District Court. The 21-year-old will be deported after serving the jail term. He will then be banned from entering Denmark for six years. Amoo was part of the Golden Eaglets side that featured at the 2019 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Brazil. Source: Daily Post Nigeria

The part-time lecturers carried out academic activities and add values to the image of the Polytechnic; they contributed to the building the image of the Polytechnic and made themselves available for the tasks assigned to them. However, the salary scale for the part-time lecturers was not encouraging enough.   The Federal Government of Nigeria has approved the re-opening of the Seme land border for the importation of vehicles. The Director of Road Transport in the Ministry of Transportation, Ibrahim Musa, made the disclosure on Wednesday. Musa, who spoke at the Economic Community of West African States, ECOWAS, meeting organised between officials of Nigeria and Benin Republic, revealed that the development followed complaints by freight forwarders operating at the Seme border. He said: “I was here with the former Minister of State for Transportation when the freight forwarders pleaded that the border should be reactivated for the free movement of goods and services. “The former minister made us prepare a memo to that effect. NDLEA Arrests 31,675 Suspects In 29 Months

  Chairman/chief executive officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency ( NDLEA ), Brig. Gen. Mohamed Marwa (retd) said the agency has arrested 31,675 drug offenders, prosecuted and convicted 5, 147 in the last 29 months. The agency chairman also said over 6.3million kilograms of assorted  drugs  were seized within the same period. Marwa stated this in Abuja yesterday at a joint press briefing with the country representative of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), Mr Oliver Stolpe, to flag off weeklong activities marking the 2023 World Drug Day, which is an annual event. Bauchi: Man arrested for setting suspected witch on fire

  A 30-year-old man was arrested on Sunday by the police in Bauchi State after he poured kerosene on a girl and set her ablaze on the allegation that she is a witch. The suspect, one Hamza Umar, was said to have committed the crime when the victim, Hafsat Bala, stormed his compound at Rafin Albasa area of Bauchi metropolis and allegedly claimed that she was sent by her elder sister to kill the suspect. Despite making attempts to chase the victim out of the premises of his residence, Bala was said to have resisted, claiming that she was asked to bury some charms at the corner of the house and further refused to remove the charms when asked to do so. 6 Suspects In Police Net For Kidnapping Bauchi Varsity Student Over $3,800 Fraud Proceed

  Policemen have arrested six suspects for allegedly masterminding the abduction of one Ojo Tobi David, a 400-level student of Sa’adu Zungur University, Gadau in Bauchi State following a misunderstanding about sharing $3,800 made from internet fraud. LEADERSHIP gathered that one of the suspects, Damilola James, slumped and died on sighting a team of military personnel attached to the 133 Special Force Batallion in Azare, who arrested and handed over the suspects to the Police. Bauchi State Police Public Relations Officer, (PPRO), SP Ahmed Mohammed Wakil, in a statement on Wednesday, said two of the six suspects arrested include 300-level and 400-level students of State-owned Sa’adu Zungur University.   Officers of Operation Hadarin Daji, a component of the military in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State have successfully rescued ten farmers abducted by armed bandits. DAILY POST gathered that the kidnapped victims were abducted on the 6th of June, 2023 while working on their farms, pointing out that the victims who are mainly male adults spent seven days in the den of bandits. A press statement from authorities of Operation Hadarin Daji pointed out that the bandits abandoned the victims in the bush on sighting the troops approaching their enclaves. The rescued victims according to the military statement have been debriefed and reunited with their families The statement further said the operation will continue to attack unrepentant bandits until sanity prevails in Zamfara and neighbouring States under its control.
