NSCDC rescues 25-year-old woman allegedly locked for years in Jigawa

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) has rescued a 25-year-old woman allegedly locked in a room for years by her father in Jigawa State.

Spokesman of the Jigawa State NSCDC Command, CSC Adamu Shehu, confirmed this to DAILY POST on Wednesday.

He said this followed a complaint lodged at the NSCDC State Command Headquarters by one human rights activist that a girl of about 25 years named Ummi was locked up in a room within the house for several years without being allowed to come out by her father.

CSC Shehu said the NSCDC operatives rushed to the house and rescued the girl, who was looking emaciated, unkempt, and depressed.

He explained that the room in which she was living served as her toilet, where she urinates, and her food was served on a bare floor.
